Light indicators
a. Red indication
If the red light flashes, this indicates a low battery or a system error. Please follow the troubleshooting steps outlined below:
- Sensor error: The device might not be correctly positioned on the food container. Adjust its position and attempt the process again. If the issue remains, proceed to #2.
- Sensor obstruction: The sensors may be blocked by substances like grease, dirt, etc. Gently clean the sensors with a damp cloth and retry. If the issue remains, proceed to #3.
- Sensor non-response: The device appears to be unable to detect a response from the sensor reflectors on the lid. This could result from lid deformation, potentially caused by exposure to high heat. Release the locking flaps to relieve any tension in the lid, then reposition the device on the lid. Ensure the sensors align with the lid’s sensor reflectors and initiate the cycle again. Remember to secure the flaps after the process. If the issue remains, advance to #4.
- Power Deficiency: Charge the device with the provided USB-C cable. The device is inoperable during charging. A green light will signal when the device is fully charged. If the issue persists, refer to #5.

Insert does not slot back into the lid
The insert is tailored to align with the EcoLoc lid snugly. Re-inserting it into the lid might demand some effort. Approach this with patience and methodically. Refrain from applying excessive force to prevent damage to the lid and insert and, importantly, to ensure your safety.
Lens(es) does not settle into the insert
The lenses are engineered to fit the insert precisely. Inserting them may require some effort. Handle this process methodically and patiently. AVOID using force to negate potential damage to the lens, the insert, and, most importantly, yourself.
Lid appears distorted
Plastic food container lids might become deformed when exposed to high temperatures. If a lid seems distorted and doesn’t fit the food container properly, it’s advisable not to use it. Always adhere to the EcoLoc user manual’s guidelines when using the lids. Order new EcoLoc lids here.
Insert appears distorted
The insert is made of plastic and is susceptible to warping under high temperatures. If an insert seems deformed and isn’t aligning with the EcoLoc lid, avoid using it. Always follow the user manual’s instructions about the EcoLoc lids. Order new EcoLoc lids here.

Using the device
Adhering to instructions
Always operate the EcoLoc device with the PureFize functionality in line with the user manual.
Are you encountering issues?
a. Extend the session. Different foods and foods of different quality might be exposed to varying degrees and types of contamination. Certain bacteria, fungi, or spores can be more UV light-resistant than others. To increase the effectiveness, you can lengthen the session of the EcoLoc device. Double, triple, or even quadruple-press the start button to prolong the session. Each press extends the session by 3 minutes, with a maximum of 12 minutes. If desired, you can initiate another 12-minute session following the initial one. However, the UV dose dispensed over 12 minutes is typically enough to eradicate most germs. The enhanced dose remains safe for the food.
Note: Food spoilage can result from contamination but also due to enzymes present in the food. While EcoLoc effectively combats contamination, it does not neutralize enzymes. As a result, foods with higher enzyme content might still deteriorate even after using EcoLoc.
b. Avoid overfilling the container. The EcoLoc functions on a line-of-sight principle. If the container is filled to the brim, the light won’t disperse throughout the entire container but will concentrate intensely near the light sources. This will diminish its effectiveness. Always leave space in the container to ensure optimal results, allowing the light to illuminate the food surface evenly.
c. Lid handling post-start. Once the EcoLoc session has started, refrain from removing the lid.
Error messages and indicators

- Your device seems to be encountering an unknown problem. Please fill out the contact form below.
Continuous red light
The device is charging.
Continuous green light
The device is fully charged.
Blue light indicator
A flashing blue light indicates that the cycle is currently active. The device operates for three minutes after a single button press. Each subsequent button press extends the session by an additional three minutes. This can be useful, as certain foods or food qualities might require prolonged exposure for optimal effect. For instance, pressing the button three times consecutively will extend the session to last nine minutes. The maximum session time is capped at 12 minutes, which can be achieved with four consecutive button presses.
All button presses must be made within 6 seconds of the first press. The cycle cannot be extended once it has started.
The cycle is considered finished when the blue light stops flashing.
Maintenance and advice
Caring for your EcoLoc products ensures they deliver optimal performance and longevity.
In this section, you’ll find guidelines covering cleaning best practices, user recommendations, and vital safety precautions. These steps have been carefully curated to help you get the most out of your EcoLoc products while prioritizing safety and hygiene.
Cleaning advice
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your EcoLoc device, lid, and insert. Follow these guidelines for a thorough cleaning:
Cleaning advice
1. EcoLoc device:
- Do not immerse the device in water. This could damage its internal components and compromise its efficiency.
- Gently wipe down the surface of the EcoLoc device using a damp cloth. Ensure that the fabric is dry enough.
- After wiping, leave the device to air dry or pat it down with a dry cloth. Ensure it’s completely dry before using it again.
2. EcoLoc lid and insert:
- The EcoLoc lid can be cleaned in a dishwasher, but for the longest possible lifespan, it’s recommended to handwash the lid.
- Begin by rinsing the lid and insert under lukewarm water to remove any large debris or food particles.
- Using a soft sponge, gently scrub the lid and insert. You can use a mild dishwashing detergent for a deeper clean if needed.
- For corners or harder-to-reach areas, a soft-bristled brush can be beneficial. This will ensure any residues or particles lodged in tight spaces are removed.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water to ensure all detergent residues are washed off.
- Pat dry with a clean towel or leave them to air dry before using or storing.
Additional Tips:
- Avoid using abrasive pads or brushes, as they can scratch or damage the surface of the lid and insert.
- If you encounter stubborn stains or residues, soak the lid, and insert in warm, soapy water for a few minutes before scrubbing.
- Ensure all parts are dry before assembling or storing to prevent bacterial growth or mold.
User advice

The device operates using electric current, which presents a risk of electric shock. Mishandling may lead to a fire hazard. Do not attempt to open or tamper with the device.
This device contains non-replaceable batteries. Do not attempt to dismantle the device under any circumstances.
The EcoLoc device has built-in sensors that detect if the device is correctly attached to the lid. If not, then the device cannot be turned on. This extra security feature prevents the users from turning on the device when it is separated from the lid. Place the device on the lid and start the session by properly attaching the lid to the food container.
Lid
- The EcoLoc lid should always be placed on the food container before using the device.
- Although the EcoLoc lid can be used in the microwave, it’s not recommended. Using it in a microwave might reduce its longevity.
